DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Farmer Training & Capacity Building
- Conduct training sessions for farmers on best agricultural practices, including crop management, pest control, irrigation techniques, and soil fertility improvement.
- Develop and implement training materials tailored to the needs of local farmers.
- Facilitate farmer field schools, workshops, and demonstration plots to improve the practical knowledge of farming communities.
Technical Assistance & Advisory Services
- Provide expert advice and technical assistance to farmers on issues related to crop production, pest and disease management, and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Offer tailored recommendations based on the specific needs of each farmer or farm group.
- Respond promptly to technical queries from farmers and provide solutions in a timely manner.
Promote Agricultural Innovations
- Identify and promote innovative agricultural technologies, tools, and techniques to enhance farm productivity and sustainability.
- Facilitate the introduction of new crop varieties, integrated pest management strategies, and water-saving technologies.
- Assist farmers in understanding and adopting modern agricultural practices to improve yield and reduce costs.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Monitor the progress of farmers' practices and provide feedback on the outcomes of the implemented techniques.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with farmers to assess the impact of the training and advice provided.
- Keep records of farmer activities, performance, and development progress in the designated area.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare regular reports on farmer progress, training activities, challenges, and success stories.
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions with farmers, including technical support, recommendations, and training sessions.
Collaboration and Networking
- Work closely with other agricultural stakeholders, including government agencies and extension officers.
- Coordinate with other field officers and team members to share insights, strategies, and challenges faced by farmers.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Agriculture or a related field
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience as an Agricultural Field Officer or in a similar capacity, providing training and technical assistance to farmers
- Strong knowledge of agricultural best practices, pest and disease management, and crop production techniques.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with farmers from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to identify and implement innovative farming solutions tailored to local contexts
