DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Livestock Management

  • Supervise daily care, feeding, breeding, and health monitoring of dairy cows and poultry.
  • Ensure proper milking procedures and milk hygiene standards.
  • Coordinate vaccination and deworming schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of livestock health, production, and performance.
  • Work with veterinary professionals when necessary.

Crop and Horticulture Management

  • Plan, supervise, and participate in crop production activities (planting, weeding, irrigation, fertilizing, harvesting).
  • Monitor crop health and control pests and diseases using appropriate techniques.
  • Maintain farm equipment and ensure tools are well-kept and available for use.

Farm Operations & Supervision

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of farm workers to ensure timely execution of farm tasks.
  • Train farm workers on best practices for animal husbandry, crop management, and farm safety.
  • Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and biosecurity on the farm.
  • Monitor stock levels of feed, fertilizers, chemicals, and other inputs; initiate reorders as necessary.

Marketing & Sales

  • Identify and pursue local market opportunities for farm produce (milk, eggs, vegetables, etc.).
  • Coordinate delivery of products to clients and manage customer relationships.
  • Keep simple records of sales, inventory, and revenues.

Reporting & Record-Keeping

  • Maintain updated records on:
  • Daily production (milk, eggs, crop yields)
  • Sales and income
  • Input usage
  • Livestock health and treatments
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to the farm owner/manager.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mixed farming (dairy, poultry & horticulture)
  • Certificate or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field preferred
  • Strong practical skills in animal care, crop farming, and farm machinery operation
  • Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle multiple responsibilities
