DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and deliver high-quality French lessons aligned with the Cambridge Lower Secondary, IGCSE, and/or AS Level frameworks.
- Design differentiated instructional materials that cater to diverse learning styles and levels (beginners to advanced).
- Integrate the four core language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) into lessons with appropriate emphasis on oral fluency and written accuracy.
- Use modern, student-centered teaching approaches that encourage critical thinking and real-world language application.
- Regularly update lesson plans and teaching methods to reflect best practices and feedback.
- Establish a respectful, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere conducive to academic excellence.
- Manage behavior positively and consistently, fostering a safe and collaborative learning space.
- Promote a growth mindset and encourage perseverance in language acquisition.
- Ensure that students adhere to the school’s code of conduct, dress code, and academic expectations.
- Collaborate with the Languages Department to review and improve the French curriculum and scope & sequence documents.
- Contribute to the development of interdisciplinary projects and thematic units where French language is integrated.
- Suggest and implement new resources, texts, and teaching aids (digital and print) to enhance French learning experiences.
- Provide individualized academic support to students who require additional assistance.
- Offer extension opportunities for high-achieving students, including preparation for language competitions or DELF exams (if applicable).
- Act as a mentor, encouraging students’ interest in French culture, travel, and further study opportunities
- Maintain clear and open lines of communication with parents/guardians about student progress, concerns, and achievements.
- Prepare mid-term and end-of-term student reports in accordance with the school’s reporting system and timelines.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and be available for consultations as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavioral incidents.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, safeguarding protocols, and Cambridge examination regulations.
- Contribute to departmental audits, curriculum reviews, and school inspections as required.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in French, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage)
- Teaching certification or diploma with specialization in French language education
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching French within a Cambridge International or IGCSE setting
- Demonstrated success in guiding students to achieve top grades in IGCSE French examinations
- Deep understanding of IGCSE grading standards, assessment strategies, and modern pedagogy
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to foster a respectful, engaging, and dynamic learning environment
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
