DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle including job advertisements, screening, interviewing, reference checks, and offer letters.
  • Organize and conduct employee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure smooth integration of new hires.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary issues.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Provide guidance to staff and management on HR policies, procedures, and conflict resolution.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Administer employee benefits programs including leave management, health insurance, and statutory benefits (NSSF, SHIF, PAYE).
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates of employee records and payroll inputs.
  • Liaise with relevant external bodies on statutory compliance and benefits.

Training & Development

  • Identify staff training needs and coordinate capacity-building initiatives.
  • Develop training calendars and partner with external trainers where necessary.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and maintain training records.

Compliance & HR Policy Implementation

  • Ensure compliance with Kenyan labor laws, NGO regulatory requirements, and internal HR policies.
  • Update and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee records and sensitive information.

 

Performance Management

  • Lead the implementation of performance appraisal systems.
  • Support managers in setting KPIs and monitoring staff performance.
  • Recommend development plans based on performance reviews.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within the NGO or development sector
  • CHRP certification (preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
