DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Machine Operation:
- Operate manual and CNC lathe machines to cut, drill, turn, or shape materials.
- Adjust machine settings based on the specifications of the job.
- Set up the lathe with tools, fixtures, and materials as required by the task.
Blueprint Interpretation:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine
the proper machining processes, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Ensure that the finished product meets all specifications by interpreting blueprints
accurately.
Measurement and Inspection:
- Measure finished parts using precise instruments like calipers, micrometers, and
gauges to verify dimensions.
- Inspect parts for surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and quality standards.
- Ensure all tolerances are within acceptable limits.
Tool Maintenance:
- Maintain tools and machine components to ensure proper functioning.
- Change and replace cutting tools as needed based on wear or job requirements.
- Mould maintenance work
Machine Maintenance:
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on lathe machines to ensure they remain in good
working condition (e.g., lubricating parts, checking for wear).
- Report any machine malfunctions to your HoD for troubleshooting and repairs.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow strict safety protocols and regulations while operating machines and handling
materials.
- Wear appropriate protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, Overall, safety
glasses, gloves, etc.
- Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and complies with workplace safety
standards.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel to resolve
any issues related to machine performance, product quality, or specifications.
- Assist in training or mentoring less experienced machine operators or technicians
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in machining, CNC programming, or a related field
- Proficiency in operating both manual and CNC lathe machines
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models
- Strong knowledge of machine settings, feeds, and speeds
- Familiarity with various lathe tools and their proper usage
- Previous hands-on experience in operating lathe machines (manual and/or CNC) is preferred
- An added advantage is having worked in a plastic products manufacturing factory
