JOB SUMMARY

The Operations Manager will lead our operations for both the reusable glass bottle business and cullet business. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong background in operations, a commitment to safety and housekeeping, and the ability to streamline processes while maintaining high standards of quality and environmental compliance.  

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations and process Management.

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, from receiving of post-consumer bottles, verification, ensuring proper storage, processing to dispatch of the glass bottles.
  • Develop, document and implement internal standard operational procedures for the above activities and ensure implementation.
  • Identify opportunities for improving operational processes, managing costs, reducing waste, and maximizing resource use. 
  • Implement metrics to measure performance and track key operational indicators.

Production Management & Quality Control:  

  • Manage the entire production process from washing of glass bottles, crushing glass into cullet, quality check, packaging and storage of finished products.
  • Monitor the efficiency of production processes, identify gaps and optimize for throughput, quality, manage costs and waste reduction.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor daily, weekly, monthly objectives to ensure the production targets are met.
  • Coordinate production activities, ensuring alignment with demand forecasts and client requirements.
  • Develop quality control procedures and conduct audits to identify and address quality issues.
  • Ensure all finished products meet quality standards and client specifications.
  • Ensure all products are well packaged according to customer's demands.
  • Ensure storage of clean glass bottles and delivery trucks are clean and frequently fumigated.

 

 

Team Management & Stakeholder Coordination:  

  • Develop job descriptions for the team and conduct regular performance evaluations to enhance employee productivity.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment focused on safety, teamwork, and accountability.  
  • Supervise and support the production and operations team, providing training and development to enhance skills.  
  • Conduct regular team meetings and provide ongoing support and guidance to staff.  
  • Manage stakeholders' relationships, that is, NEMA, NCC, NTSA, DOSH etc.  

Safety & Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce health, safety, and environmental protocols to ensure a safe workplace and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Enforce use of PPE at the workplace.
  • Conduct risk assessments and regular safety audits to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Lead incident investigations, implementing corrective actions as necessary to prevent future incidents.  
  • Ensure operations comply with all regulatory and environmental standards.

Logistics Management:  

  • Manage logistics costs e.g. fuel, truck repairs & maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. 
  • Manage the logistics staff and coordinate scheduling and workloads.
  • Develop and implement strategies for improving efficiency, customer service, and cost savings.
  • Work closely with collections department, suppliers, and customers to ensure timely delivery and collection of goods

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma in a business-related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience preferably in a pack house or manufacturing company
  • Proven experience to manage and optimize complex processes and production flows
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in building and managing teams of 100+ people Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with health, safety and environmental regulations and best practices. Expertise in analyzing data using statistical software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, or similar tools)
