DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and maintain timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and records.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger postings.
  • Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and properly documented.
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations including PAYE, SHIF, NSSF, VAT, and corporate tax.
  • Handle all aspects of iTax, including filing of returns and generation of compliance reports.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget implementation and report on variances.
  • Support external and internal audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and processes.
  • Utilize QuickBooks and MS Excel proficiently for daily accounting and reporting tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records and backups of all accounting data.
  • Liaise with suppliers, clients, and other third parties on finance-related matters.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Any other accounting duties as may be assigned.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA II or higher is required
  • A minimum of 3 years' working experience in a busy accounting environment
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced knowledge of MS Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis tools)
  • Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws and statutory compliance (iTax, PAYE, VAT, etc.)
  • Experience working in a small or medium enterprise (SME) will be an added advantage
