DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Workshop Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the automotive workshop, ensuring that all vehicles and construction equipment are maintained and repaired as per company standards.
- Supervise the maintenance schedules for all company vehicles, machinery, and construction equipment.
- Ensure that the workshop runs efficiently, with minimal downtime, and repairs are completed on time.
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead and manage a team of automotive technicians and mechanics.
- Delegate tasks, set priorities, and ensure the team follows safety and quality procedures.
- Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations to staff members.
Inventory and Parts Management:
- Manage parts inventory, including ordering and maintaining stock levels to ensure timely repairs.
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure the availability of quality parts and materials.
Budget and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage the workshop’s budget, controlling costs, and maximizing resource efficiency.
- Monitor and report on expenditure and cost savings to ensure the workshop operates within budget constraints.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure that all workshop activities comply with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and address any identified hazards to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ensure that all maintenance work is completed according to manufacturer specifications and legal requirements.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance work, and inventory.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on workshop activities, vehicle/equipment status, and financial performance to management.
Quality Control and Continuous Improvement:
- Establish and maintain high-quality standards for all workshop processes.
- Continuously evaluate and improve workshop workflows and procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce repair turnaround time.
Customer Service:
- Ensure that all repair requests and maintenance schedules are met in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure that vehicles and equipment are serviced and repaired without causing significant delays to operations.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree or diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive workshop management, preferably in a construction equipment or heavy machinery garage.
- Proven experience in leading a team of automotive technicians and managing workshop operations
- In-depth knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance, particularly in heavy-duty and construction equipment
- Ability to manage workshop operations efficiently and handle administrative tasks such as inventory control and reporting
