DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and Serve Beverages:
- Mix and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to established recipes and customer preferences.
- Ensure accurate measurements and presentation standards are followed for each drink.
Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly, take drink orders efficiently, and offer recommendations based on guest preferences or seasonal specials.
- Engage with customers in a friendly, professional manner to enhance their overall experience.
Bar Setup and Maintenance:
- Ensure the bar is fully stocked and organized at the beginning of each shift, including garnishes, glassware, and drink ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all bar areas, including counters, shelves, floors, and utensils throughout the shift.
Point of Sale (POS) Operation:
- Accurately enter orders into the POS system and process payments (cash, card, or mobile money).
- Handle billing inquiries, issue receipts, and manage end-of-day cash reconciliation.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels of beverages and bar supplies; inform management when reordering is needed.
- Participate in stock-taking exercises and assist in tracking usage to minimize wastage or theft.
Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to all legal and health regulations related to alcohol service and food safety.
- Monitor patrons’ alcohol consumption and take appropriate action when necessary, including refusing service in accordance with responsible service guidelines.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with wait staff, kitchen personnel, and supervisors to ensure seamless service across departments.
- Communicate effectively with team members during busy shifts to prioritize service and manage guest expectations.
Opening and Closing Duties:
- Perform daily opening procedures such as setting up the bar, checking equipment functionality, and preparing garnishes.
- Execute proper closing duties, including cleaning, locking up, and reporting any incidents or equipment issues.
Upselling and Promotions:
- Promote special cocktails, happy hour deals, or events to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
- Use suggestive selling techniques to increase average spend per customer.
Appearance and Conduct:
- Maintain a well-groomed appearance and dress according to company grooming standards.
- Exhibit a positive attitude, punctuality, and professionalism at all times while on duty.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Certificate in Hospitality Management or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a barman in a bar, restaurant, or hotel setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in using POS systems
- Well-groomed appearance and a professional, courteous attitude
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Knowledge of cocktail preparation and basic bar operations is a plus
