DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Maintenance & Repair:
- Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including motors, control panels,
circuit breakers, and wiring systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults in production equipment, ensuring minimum
downtime.
- Replace faulty electrical components such as switches, fuses, and circuit boards.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical systems and machinery.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Diagnose electrical issues using multimeters, insulation testers, and other electrical
tools.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members to solve complex electrical
problems in machinery and equipment.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to identify and repair
faults.
Installation and Upgrades:
- Assist in installing new electrical equipment, wiring, and systems for new projects or
equipment upgrades.
- Participate in electrical system upgrades and recommend improvements to increase
efficiency and safety.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and electrical codes when working on electrical
- Ensure that all electrical maintenance work complies with company and industry
- safety standards.
- Conduct risk assessments to ensure electrical work is safe and hazard-free.
Control Systems and Automation:
- Maintained and troubleshot electrical control systems and automation equipment.
- Work with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and SCADA (Supervisory Control
- and Data Acquisition) systems to ensure the smooth functioning of automated
machinery.
- Assist with troubleshooting and calibrating sensors, actuators, and electrical control
panels.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used,
time taken, and issues resolved.
- Report any recurring problems and suggest long-term solutions.
- Maintain an inventory of electrical parts and materials to ensure quick repairs.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with mechanical technicians, production staff, and electrical technicians
- to ensure continuous and efficient production.
- Train and mentor junior technicians or apprentices in electrical maintenance and
safety procedures.
Continuous Improvement:
- Suggest and implement improvements to electrical systems and processes to
- increase the efficiency and reliability of production lines.
- Stay updated on the latest electrical technologies and best practices to enhance
maintenance operations.
Energy Management:
- Maintain energy monitoring equipment alongside suppliers.
- Provide reports and analysis on energy consumption.
- Work with maintenance and production teams to optimise energy consumption.
- Participate in the company energy committee,
Emergency Response:
- Being available to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of regular
working hours, such as equipment breakdowns during production runs.
- Quick response and effective problem-solving skills are crucial for minimizing
downtime and mitigating production losses.
Budget Management:
- Participating in budget planning and cost control efforts related to electrical
activities.
- This includes monitoring expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and
optimizing resource allocation to ensure efficient maintenance resource use
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Bsc/MscDegree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in electrical and electronic engineering.
- Excellent experience and knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and electrical circuits.
- Excellent knowledge and experience in maintaining PLC systems (Beckhoff, Siemens, Ultra, Omron) are added advantages if you are experienced in programming PLCs.
- Excellent Knowledge of instrumentation principles and control systems used in manufacturing processes, including sensors, actuators, transmitters, and PID controllers
- Excellent experience reviewing and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Understanding energy management principles and techniques to optimise energy usage, reduce utility costs, and improve overall energy efficiency in manufacturing operations.
- An added advantage of experience and knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
