DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning and Sanitization:

  • Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, floors, walls, and equipment regularly.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and glassware in a safe and timely manner.
  • Maintain proper sanitation procedures for all kitchen tools, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Ensure that garbage and waste are properly disposed of and that bins are regularly emptied.
  • Regularly clean and disinfect kitchen appliances such as ovens, refrigerators, and dishwashers.

 Kitchen Organization:

  • Organize and store clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment in appropriate areas.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work environment, including the storage of supplies.
  • Assist kitchen staff in setting up and breaking down workstations as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and notify management when restocking is required.

Assisting Kitchen Staff:

  • Assist chefs and kitchen staff with prep work, such as peeling vegetables, cutting ingredients, or other tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure that all kitchen supplies and ingredients are within reach and organized for the kitchen team.
  • Support in the delivery of items to and from the kitchen as needed.
  • Help ensure that all kitchen staff have the necessary tools to perform their duties.

Health and Safety:

  • Follow all health and safety guidelines in accordance with company standards and government regulations.
  • Assist with the management of hazardous materials such as cleaning chemicals, ensuring proper storage and handling.
  • Ensure that kitchen staffs adhere to proper food handling procedures.
  • Report any maintenance or safety concerns to management.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with kitchen staff and other team members.
  • Communicate any issues with equipment, cleanliness, or supplies to the supervisor or manager.
  • Follow all instructions from the kitchen supervisor to ensure smooth daily operations.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • 2-3 years in a similar role in a restaurant or foodservice environment
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy items
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work efficiently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment
