DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Commercial Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive revenue and go-to-market strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
- Lead commercial planning and forecasting across all business segments.
- Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and channels to drive topline growth.
- Collaborate with product and marketing teams to align commercial strategy with product capabilities and customer needs.
Sales & Business Development
- Build, lead, and manage the sales and business development teams to achieve monthly and quarterly targets.
- Define and monitor key sales metrics and KPIs to track performance and optimize results.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners.
- Lead contract negotiations and close high-value deals with enterprise and SME clients.
Commercial Operations & Systems
- Own and optimize the commercial tech stack (Zoho CRM, Zoho Books, and other relevant tools), ensuring accurate reporting, usage discipline, and data integrity.
- Ensure end-to-end visibility of the sales funnel and pipeline management.
- Work closely with finance and operations to ensure smooth invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition processes.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Mentor and develop a high-performing commercial team, setting clear objectives and providing ongoing coaching.
- Foster a culture of accountability, performance excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Drive cross-functional alignment with marketing, product, and customer success teams.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage
- 5+ years of progressive experience in sales, business development, or commercial management, preferably in the Kenyan tech ecosystem or a high-growth startup
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling revenue teams and meeting aggressive growth targets
- Proficient in using Zoho CRM, Zoho Books, and other commercial tools
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a deep understanding of the local market dynamics
