DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in providing timely and relevant legal advice to the company on a range of legal topics related to the business and its products/services.
- Assist in ensuring the company operates within the confines of applicable laws by supporting the Senior Legal Officer in monitoring compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Support in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating basic commercial contracts and agreements under the supervision of the Senior Legal Officer.
- Conduct legal research on various regulatory and legal matters and provide reports to support the Senior Legal Officer’s recommendations.
- Assist in reviewing legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current laws and regulations.
- Help identify and mitigate legal risks by assisting in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Support in communicating with external parties such as external lawyers, auditors, and regulators, as required.
- Assist in reviewing the progress of court matters involving the company and provide updates to the Senior Legal Officer.
- Assist in the preparation of legal training materials to educate staff on legal and compliance matters.
- Help track and report on changes to legislation, rules, and regulations that may affect the company’s operations and advice on the necessary actions to remain compliant.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of regulatory filings such as annual returns, ensuring timely responses to regulator circulars.
- Help with the process of securing and maintaining the company’s intellectual property rights, including patents and trademarks.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB)
- At least 3 years relevant working experience in in-house legal counsel position
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
- Basic understanding of relevant laws and regulations affecting the business
