DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Store Operations Management

  • Oversee all aspects of daily supermarket operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure the store is clean, well-organized, and fully functional at all times.
  • Monitor equipment, lighting, and overall store condition and coordinate any necessary repairs.

Staff Supervision and Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff members including cashiers, stockists, and cleaners.
  • Conduct regular staff briefings and performance evaluations to ensure productivity and adherence to standards.
  • Promote a positive team culture by motivating and mentoring employees.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Ensure customers receive high-quality service by training staff in customer care.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints, concerns, or feedback in a professional and timely manner.
  • Implement strategies to improve the overall customer shopping experience.

Sales and Target Achievement

  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance against set targets.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to increase revenue and improve margins.
  • Promote upselling and cross-selling techniques among the staff.

Inventory and Stock Management

  • Oversee inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock is available and avoid overstocking or shortages.
  • Coordinate timely ordering and receiving of goods from suppliers.
  • Supervise accurate stock-taking and reconciliation processes.

Merchandising and Store Presentation

  • Ensure products are properly labeled, priced, and displayed attractively in line with brand standards.
  • Implement and monitor promotional displays and in-store campaigns.
  • Ensure FIFO (First-In-First-Out) method is followed to minimize expiry losses.

Cash and Financial Management

  • Supervise cashier operations, ensuring accurate cash handling and reconciliation at end of day.
  • Prepare and submit daily financial and sales reports to management.
  • Monitor and reduce instances of theft, fraud, or cash shortages.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Enforce adherence to company policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and liaise with security personnel.

Reporting and Communication

  • Maintain open and effective communication with upper management and other departments.
  • Compile detailed operational reports and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Stay updated on market trends and competitor activity to keep the store competitive.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • 2–3 years of experience in a similar supervisory or management role
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Good understanding of retail and customer service principles
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and POS systems
