DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Monitor general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and fixed asset register.
  • Lead external audits and ensure timely submission of audit schedules.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Coordinate and consolidate the annual budgeting process.
  • Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis reports.
  • Provide financial forecasts to guide operational and strategic decision-making.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Manage the company’s cash flow, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.
  • Ensure timely payments of statutory deductions and supplier obligations.
  • Optimize working capital, including receivables and payables management.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, etc.).
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to protect company assets and reduce risk.
  • Coordinate risk assessments and ensure policy adherence.

Procurement & Inventory Oversight

  • Oversee procurement transactions to ensure cost-effectiveness and supplier compliance.
  • Work closely with stores and logistics teams to ensure proper inventory accounting.
  • Analyze supplier performance and support contract management.

IT & Systems Support

  • Support the integration of accounting systems and business process automation.
  • Liaise with IT support to ensure financial systems are accurate, secure, and efficient.
  • Drive data integrity and digital financial reporting tools.

 

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field or CPA K
  • Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior-level role within the FMCG sector
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (Advanced level)
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent knowledge of tax laws, IFRS, and Kenyan financial regulations
