DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Monitor general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and fixed asset register.
- Lead external audits and ensure timely submission of audit schedules.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Coordinate and consolidate the annual budgeting process.
- Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis reports.
- Provide financial forecasts to guide operational and strategic decision-making.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Manage the company’s cash flow, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.
- Ensure timely payments of statutory deductions and supplier obligations.
- Optimize working capital, including receivables and payables management.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, etc.).
- Establish and monitor internal controls to protect company assets and reduce risk.
- Coordinate risk assessments and ensure policy adherence.
Procurement & Inventory Oversight
- Oversee procurement transactions to ensure cost-effectiveness and supplier compliance.
- Work closely with stores and logistics teams to ensure proper inventory accounting.
- Analyze supplier performance and support contract management.
IT & Systems Support
- Support the integration of accounting systems and business process automation.
- Liaise with IT support to ensure financial systems are accurate, secure, and efficient.
- Drive data integrity and digital financial reporting tools.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field or CPA K
- Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior-level role within the FMCG sector
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (Advanced level)
- Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent knowledge of tax laws, IFRS, and Kenyan financial regulations
