DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Machine Setup & Calibration:
- Prepare machines for production by installing and aligning rolls, blades, and feeding mechanisms according to specifications.
- Calibrate machine settings such as speed, tension, and cutting length to ensure consistent product output.
Machine Operation:
- Operate converting machines used for producing toilet paper, hand towels, or serviettes, ensuring continuous and efficient production.
- Monitor the operation of machines, adjusting parameters in real-time to maintain quality and throughput.
- Load raw materials (jumbo rolls, cores, packaging materials) into machines and remove finished products for packing.
Quality Control:
- Inspect products at various stages of production to detect defects such as improper cuts, folding errors, or poor embossing.
- Take immediate corrective action when product inconsistencies are detected.
- Maintain records of product quality, reject rates, and machine efficiency for reporting and process improvement.
Routine Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Conduct daily checks on machine parts including belts, rollers, blades, and lubricants to prevent breakdowns.
- Perform minor repairs and notify the maintenance team for major mechanical issues.
- Keep maintenance logs updated and report recurring problems for long-term resolution.
Production Efficiency:
- Meet daily and weekly production targets by minimizing downtime and optimizing machine use.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance output and reduce material wastage.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth material flow and reduce bottlenecks.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all company safety policies and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
- Immediately report any unsafe conditions, near misses, or accidents to the supervisor.
- Participate in safety drills, briefings, and ongoing health & safety training.
Cleaning & Housekeeping:
- Clean machines at the end of each shift or batch to maintain hygiene and operational standards.
- Ensure the production area is clean, organized, and free from obstruction or waste.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of machine performance, material usage, downtime, and output.
- Submit shift reports to supervisors detailing production metrics and any incidents.
- Assist in stock checks and inventory reconciliation of raw materials and finished products.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Prior experience operating paper converting machines (e.g., for toilet paper, hand towels, or serviettes) is a strong advantage.
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills related to machine maintenance and repair.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work in shifts and in a high-demand environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
