DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development & Client Acquisition
- Identify and develop new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, industry events, and digital platforms.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients in warehousing, clearing & forwarding, and CFS services.
- Conduct market research to understand emerging trends, customer needs, and competitor activity.
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute sales plans and strategies aligned with company growth targets.
- Set short-term and long-term sales goals and create action plans to achieve them.
- Regularly evaluate and adjust sales tactics based on market dynamics and performance analytics.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the main point of contact for key clients, ensuring satisfaction, repeat business, and referrals.
- Conduct regular client meetings, check-ins, and performance reviews.
- Resolve client issues promptly and efficiently, collaborating with operations and customer service teams as needed.
Cross-functional Coordination
- Work closely with the operations, finance, and documentation teams to ensure smooth onboarding and service delivery.
- Coordinate with the warehouse and port teams for optimal space utilization, cargo tracking, and customer updates.
- Ensure all client requirements are clearly communicated across departments and delivered in a timely manner.
Sales Presentations & Proposals
- Prepare customized proposals and quotations for clients based on their logistics needs.
- Deliver persuasive presentations to prospective clients, showcasing the company's value proposition.
- Negotiate contract terms in line with company policies to close sales.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, leads, opportunities, and client interactions using CRM tools.
- Generate and present regular reports on sales performance, client activity, and revenue trends to senior management.
- Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of sales strategies and identify areas for improvement.
Market Intelligence & Feedback
- Stay up to date on industry developments, regulatory changes, port procedures, and customs protocols.
- Gather feedback from clients and stakeholders to improve service offerings and identify innovation opportunities.
- Participate in industry forums, exhibitions, and trade shows to represent the company and foster new relationships.
Team Collaboration & Mentorship
- Support junior sales team members through coaching, training, and performance reviews (if in a senior role).
- Share market insights and best practices across departments to align on customer service excellence.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree or higher in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Sales, Business Development, or Marketing within a busy logistics environment
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
- In-depth knowledge of the logistics sector, including warehousing, clearing and forwarding, and CFS
- Strong client management and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
